An Act to provide statutory protection for whistleblowers in the federal public service and in companies holding federal contracts. The Act establishes designated reporting channels at the Office of the Auditor-General, the EFCC, and the ICPC, prohibits retaliatory dismissal, demotion or harassment, and provides civil remedies including reinstatement, back pay, and exemplary damages for proven retaliation. 5 percent of recovered funds, capped at N20,000,000, is payable to the whistleblower where the disclosure leads directly to recovery.
The Act repeals the existing administrative Whistleblower Policy and gives it the force of statute.
